Fantasy disrupted – lifelong opera ban for German doctor

Date:

Police lead a crowd to the applause of the audience at a performance at the Vienna State Opera. The German doctor was not satisfied with the staging and had to say so. He even threatened an opera lover.

The Vienna State Opera was sold out and culture vultures listened intently to a production of “La Traviata” – which a German doctor seemed to dislike. He kept moaning loudly and pulled out his cell phone. He photographed demonstratively.

“I’ll make mincemeat of you!”
To the chagrin of his neighbor, who politely asked him to stop. “Then he shouted, ‘I’ll make mincemeat of you!’ It was absolutely threatening,” recalls a professor at the University of Salzburg on the witness stand, who repeatedly made provocative moves afterwards.

And to top it off, he refused to leave the opera. The police finally carried him out – the crowd applauded. “I can be very stubborn sometimes,” he told officers. The German does not appear at his trial in Vienna. The verdict – invalid for three months due to coercion – is in absentia. He was also banned from opera in Vienna for life.
