For example, there are currently numerous conflicts that hardly see a positive end: “In the medium term, NATO may even have to consider a naval blockade of North African countries in order to limit the number of refugees in the Mediterranean again”, says the “Kronen Zeitung” journalist and foreign policy professional Kurt Seinitz in the krone.tv conversation with Gerhard Koller. On the other hand, Seinitz is a bit more optimistic about a possible war over Taiwan: “I don’t think China will attack. Because Taiwan would effectively fight back, and the US would impose harsh sanctions on China, which would have drastic consequences for Chinese exports. Seinitz considers the situation in Ukraine to be a “de facto failure for Russia”: both the Russian failure at the start of the war and the last winter offensive “flopped”, and the Russian army generally showed significant weaknesses.
In turn, Seinitz sees a change in the political situation in Russia only coming “from within”: Specifically, a military coup would be the only conceivable chance to force Putin out of office: “Because he will probably never say goodbye himself”, adds to the journalist.
