Spectacular accident – border wall pierces car – driver barely survives

Date:

Centimeters made the difference between life and death: in this accident in Friedburg-Lengau in Upper Austria, the side wall of a truck pierced the driver’s side of a small car. The driver of the car escaped with minor injuries, but now has another problem.

What happened? A 50-year-old from Belarus drove his van on the B 147 from Mattighofen towards Friedburg around 5:30 p.m. At the same time, a 68-year-old from the Braunau district drove his car in the opposite direction.

Driver was drunk
The two vehicles collided on a right turn, and the pickup’s tailgate slammed through the car’s windshield—just inches from the driver. But the man got off lightly. After receiving first aid, the 68-year-old was taken to hospital with minor injuries. But: an alcohol test with 1.36 promille was positive for him, and his driver’s license was temporarily taken away.
