The Italian government’s goal is to fight human traffickers, not migrants. This was emphasized by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who will celebrate her first six months in office on Saturday.
“People with a residence permit can build a future in Italy, while people who do not have the necessary qualifications cannot enter Italy illegally. This is not only our policy, but that of the entire European Union,” Meloni said in an interview with the Milan business newspaper “Milano Finanza” on Saturday.
“Concrete plan for the Mediterranean”
When it comes to migration, Italy is not in conflict with the EU, but in constant dialogue. “We have presented our arguments in the European Council. The results are visible to everyone. For the first time, there is a concrete plan for the Central Mediterranean,” argued Meloni.
Tax reform as a priority
The prime minister called tax reform and tax cuts for employees one of the government’s priorities for the coming months. “A strong growth stimulus will come from tax reform, a real revolution that has been awaited for more than half a century. The reform will also give SMEs the opportunity to develop and reach the scale they need to compete,” said Meloni.
The tax reform aims to simplify the tax system. The number of income tax rates will be reduced from four to three.
