Three people were killed when a train collided with a car at a level crossing near Hanover. A police spokeswoman said this on Sunday morning at the request of the DPA.
According to initial information, the three dead are occupants of the car, the 22-year-old driver, a 22-year-old woman and a 21-year-old.
According to initial findings, the accident car crossed the level crossing with the barrier closed before the fatal collision. It is therefore a half barrier that does not span the entire width of the street.
Train hit car ‘at full speed’
The regional train caught the car “at full speed”, according to the accident police spokeswoman. There were 38 passengers and four railway employees on the train. One person on the train suffered minor injuries.
As the “Neue Presse” reported online, the accident site is said to be north of Hanover. The train would be a double-decker regional train.
