The union has called for demonstrations in Bilbao and Pamplona to emphasize that it will continue to promote strikes in defense of wages and pensions.
The trade union ELA will be engrossed in the defense of wages and pensions on May 1 this year and has therefore chosen the motto ‘Borrokan, irabazteko (In battle, to win)’, in a double appeal presented this Monday by his general secretary, Mitxel Lakuntza, and his deputy general secretary, Amaia Muñoa. For example, they have announced that separate demonstrations will take place in Bilbao and Pamplona next Monday.
Both have defended the strike as a “current tool” and presented their 2022 Yearbook, which lists a total of 86 union victories of last year.
Lakuntza stated that “ELA, as the majority union in this country, is proud because Euskal Herria leading the number of strikes“, because “there is a direct link between the strikes and the results achieved”. Likewise, he recalled that these are data adapted to the “wave of strikes” taking place in Europe, where countries such as France, Portugal, Germany or UK “mobilizing for wages and pensions”.
For all these reasons, the union has launched two calls for next Monday: in Bilbaoa demonstration starts at 11:30 AM from the Plaza del Sagrado Corazón, while you are inside Pamplona It will do this simultaneously from Plaza de la Cruz.
