Tecnalia increases its turnover in 2022 by 6.7% to 128 million

The technological research and development center generated an impact of 678 million on the Basque Country’s GDP last year.

The Tecnalia technology research and development center has been reached a turnover of 128 million euros in the year 2022, which represents an increase of 6.7% compared to last year. It also made an impact 678 million euros in the GDP of the Basque Country in which developed more than 4,200 technological solutions with 2,000 companies in the past year. This was explained this Wednesday by the president, Alex Belaustegui, and the general manager, Jesús Valero, at a meeting in Bilbao.

Likewise, they have revealed their main challenges for 2023 and announced that the center will allocate 13 million during the current financial year in new investments, equipment and infrastructure11.2% more than last year.

On the other hand, Tecnalia has been launched your own business acceleration programDeepTech4Impact, which will promote technology new companies through thematic calls.

Concerning the promotion of new start-upsis the target for 2023 to generate three new ones and for 2024 five, a figure that should be “recurring” in the coming years.

They also work on projects like the smart, connected and emission-free bus together with Irizar, who is currently being tested in Zaragoza; the vehicle automation hand in hand with companies like Renault and Alsa; or the MUBIL mobility hub, in Gipuzkoa.

Tecnalia’s officials have pointed to the “good results” of the center in 2022, despite “the complexity” of the context that made last year “a challenge”, and that they are “the result of the R&D transfer strategy +ia las empresas” which it performs with the aim of having an economic and social “impact”.
