On Monday morning, there was a rattling sound in Graz’s Albert-Schweitzer-Gasse as a car crashed into an Asian restaurant. Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident.
Shortly after 6 a.m., the black SUV rumbled into the “Easy Asia” restaurant and smashed flower boxes, tables and chairs in the garden. The car smashed through a window, but came to rest behind it on a thick concrete pillar.
No injuries
The 28-year-old driver was able to get out of the car without injury and fortunately there were no guests or employees in the restaurant due to the early hour. When asked by the Steirerkrone, the police stated that the cause of the accident was a combination of fatigue and light alcohol consumption. The drunk driver has now lost his driver’s license.
The owners wrote on Instagram: “We’re doing a good job given the circumstances. We’re just glad no one was in the restaurant at the time. The property damage is huge, but everything is replaceable.” Clean-up work is still ongoing and the restaurant plans to reopen to guests on Tuesday.
