Major police operation in Vienna-Simmering. On Sunday afternoon there was a shooting in a Turkish shop. A 38-year-old Iranian was killed in the incident. The perpetrator (34) could be found a little later. The suspect (34) has been arrested – the “Krone” was there and has the first details.
Only a few hours after the nightly bloody crime in Tyrol, there was the next murder alarm in Vienna. In the middle of Simmeringer Hauptstrasse, a 34-year-old Iranian took out a supposedly unregistered pistol, walked into a graphics and advertising store and shot his compatriot (38).
“Plops, Then Screams”
Although eyewitnesses heard the blast only very muffled, the cries of pain from the person shot were unmistakable.
“We actually thought nothing of it, but suddenly a lot of police officers showed up,” says a shocked employee of a nearby bakery. The background of the bloody deed is still completely obscure, the interrogations are still ongoing.
The victim was a family man, a close relative of the suspect
Until now, however, one thing is certain: there must be a certain close bond between the perpetrator and the victim. The doctors eventually lost the battle for the life of the family man. “The man was taken to a hospital under continuous resuscitation,” said Daniel Melcher, spokesman for the Vienna Professional Rescue Service. The victim succumbed to his injuries there.
Meanwhile, a massive manhunt was underway for the fugitive gunman. While Cobra’s special unit even came up with armored cars, police officers from the “Konrad” district radio patrol tracked down the gunman in a park and finally arrested him without any resistance.
There is no trace of the murder weapon for the time being, but the area is being intensively combed, according to a detective on “Krone”.
Dark memories of the Kahraman case
It has been less than three months since a similar shooting shook the Simmering district. On February 8, Orhan S. executed former team kicker Volkan Kahraman with a head shot in the open street and then executed himself after the insane act – the “Krone” reported extensively. Just before that, the victim and the perpetrator, who were considered good friends at the time, had had a conversation in a café on Etrichstrasse.
The motive at the time: jealousy. The security situation in the southeastern part of the Danube metropolis remains tense.
