“Shadows in front of the house” – US: Girl (14) shot while playing hide and seek

Date:

The game of hide and seek by some teens in the US state of Texas has ended in tragedy. Seeing “suspicious shadows” in front of his house, a neighbor grabbed his gun and shot the children. A bullet hit a 14-year-old in the head.

The incident had already taken place on Sunday in the town of Starks. After an alarm, police found a 14-year-old girl with a gunshot wound to the back of the head and was taken to hospital with “non-life-threatening injuries”, police later said. The investigation showed that several young people played hide and seek in the neighborhood and also hid in a neighboring yard. Resident David Dolye, 58, said he “saw shadows outside his home” and then reached for his gun.

“He went out again and saw people running away from his property, then started shooting at them and accidentally hit the girl,” police said in a statement. Doyle was taken into custody and charged with multiple counts, including aggravated assault with a weapon.

Fatal errors in the use of firearms
In addition to massacres and similar bloody crimes, there have been numerous tragic gun incidents recently in the US. In April, a 20-year-old woman was shot to death in upstate New York when she accidentally drove into the wrong entrance. That same month, a man in Texas opened fire on a group of cheerleaders when one of them tried to open the door of his car, mistaking it for her own vehicle. And in the state of Missouri, a black 16-year-old was shot and seriously injured after accidentally knocking on the wrong door to pick up his younger siblings.
