Meanwhile, Britain is once again significantly increasing its military support to Ukraine. The new package of arms shipments includes hundreds of anti-aircraft missiles and hundreds of combat drones with a range of more than 200 kilometers, the government in London announced on Monday. This would allow the unmanned missiles to hit targets on Ukraine’s Black Sea peninsula of Crimea, which had been annexed by Russia.

Meeting shows support
The British government announced on Monday that Selenskyj had arrived in Britain. He will meet Prime Minister Sunak at his official estate, Checkers, northwest of London.

“This is a pivotal moment in Ukraine’s resistance to a terrible war of aggression, which it did not choose or provoked,” Sunak said, according to the statement. “She needs the continued support of the international community to defend herself against the barrage of relentless and indiscriminate attacks that has been her daily reality for more than a year.”

Referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Sunak said it is in the interest of the whole world that Ukraine succeeds and that “Putin’s barbarism” is not rewarded. “That’s why the UK continues to support Ukraine – from tanks to training and ammunition to armored vehicles.”

During his last visit to Britain in February this year, Zelenskyy met Ukrainian soldiers who were being trained there. Sunak announced at the time that Britain would be the first country to supply long-range missiles to Ukraine. According to information from the American broadcaster CNN, these Storm Shadow cruise missiles have now been transferred. London has so far rejected the request for delivery of fighter jets, but is offering to train Ukrainian pilots.

“Britain is at the forefront of expanding our capabilities on the ground and in the air,” Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram on Monday. “This collaboration continues today. I will meet my friend Rishi. We will have substantive, substantive negotiations, personally and with our delegations.”

Grand Tour of Europe
During visits to Berlin and Paris, Selenskyj had repeatedly pressed for the delivery of fighter jets. Both German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron reacted cautiously. Selenskyj thanked Germany and France for their military support.
