New aid Ukraine – Zelenskyj after the G7 summit: “Respect was special”

Date:

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his satisfaction after the G7 summit in Japan. “The focus was on Ukraine, the respect for all Ukrainians was special,” Zelenskyj said on Sunday. He cited meetings with other leaders at the Hiroshima summit as evidence of international support.

A few other guests from India, Vietnam and Indonesia, among others, also attended the annual meeting of the group of seven. The meeting with US President Joe Biden “as always” led to a strengthening of Ukraine, said Zelenskyj, who recorded the video on the plane shortly before departure to Kiev.

Biden announced further military aid to Ukraine
During the summit, Biden even announced the release of another $375 million in aid package for Ukraine. In addition, Washington wants to release the deliveries of Western fighter jets that Kiev has long been asking for. Ukraine has been at war with aggressor Russia for 15 months.

“Ukrainian Peace Formula”
Zelenskyj also referred to meetings with the summit participants from Vietnam and Indonesia. Neither country has been a supporter of Ukraine so far. Both Russia and Ukraine are seeking international support for their position. Selenskyj again spoke of a “Ukrainian peace formula” providing for the withdrawal of Russian troops from all occupied territories of Ukraine as a condition of negotiations.

Russia declares Bakhmut conquered, but Zelensky denies
Meanwhile, Russia has announced the complete conquest of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Wagner’s mercenaries and the Russian military for “liberating” Russia’s embattled city of Artemovsk. In a statement on the Kremlin’s website, Putin declared that the battle for Bakhmut was over. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky denied.

Mercenary boss Yevgeny Prigozhin announced the withdrawal of his troops for the next few days. The Wagner Group will hand over its positions to the Russian Defense Ministry, Prigozhin said in an audio message on Telegram. The group wants to leave the conflict area on May 25. According to Zelenskyj, Bakhmut is not completely under Russian control. “Bachmut is not occupied by Russia today,” he said after the G7 summit in Hiroshima on Sunday.
