After a man (49) was pushed in front of a tram at the Westbahnhof on Tuesday afternoon and was seriously injured, the suspect (43) was arrested by the police.
The argument escalated at a sausage stand. Shortly afterwards, the 43-year-old pushed the 49-year-old in front of a line 6 tram, dragging him several meters. A witness told police.
Paramedics from the Vienna Professional Rescue Service and an emergency physician provided emergency medical care to the 49-year-old. In the end, the emergency services managed to pull the injured person out from under the tram without lifting the wagon. He was taken to the hospital’s trauma room.
Denies action
An observant witness had warned the police about the alleged perpetrator, who was still standing at the sausage stand. He had been arrested. During the arrest, the 43-year-old confessed, but denied deliberately pushing the 49-year-old in front of the tram.
