After drone attack – US secret services: Kiev is behind the attack on the Kremlin

Date:

In early May, the Senate Palace in the Moscow Kremlin was attacked by two drones – there are still many unanswered questions about the attack. Now the US authorities are taking notice. They admit that the provocation was probably organized by the Ukrainian secret service.

US intelligence agencies allegedly obtained this information by eavesdropping on conversations between Russian and Ukrainian officials, The New York Times and CNN report based on US intelligence sources. However, so far it has not been possible to say who exactly was behind the attack and whether Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other senior Ukrainian officials knew about it.

Did Zelensky know?
The New York Times sources do not believe the Ukrainian government has approved the attack on the Kremlin. U.S. officials say Ukrainian agents operate independently. Selenskyj is therefore not aware of all plans for covert operations. It is also said that he does not give direct instructions to the secret services, but only provides the general direction for their activities.

In addition, US officials believe that Ukrainian intelligence could be responsible for the murder of Kremlin ideologue Alexander Dugin’s daughter Dariya Dugina and the murder of Russian propagandist Vladlen Tatarski. Involvement of the Kiev reconnaissance team in the fighting in the Russian border area is also considered possible. The official Ukrainian side denies any involvement in these attacks.

Kremlin: “We said so right away!”
“We immediately said that the Kiev regime was behind it (behind the drone attack on the Kremlin – editor’s note),” Russian President Vladimir Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said of the latest revelations. “We know that, we are aware of it and we will take it into account in our further course of action,” Putin’s confidant continued.

What happened?
Two drones headed for the Kremlin on the night of May 3 and exploded just above the roofs of the government district in Moscow. Footage circulating online shows one drone bursting into a ball of flame as it crashes into the Kremlin dome, and another blown to pieces when it hit a flagpole emblazoned with the Russian tricolor.

The official Russian side saw it as a “planned terrorist attack and an attempt on the life of the President of the Russian Federation” and blamed Ukraine. The opinions of the independent experts differed. While some believed that Moscow itself staged a provocation, others assumed Ukraine was behind it.
