Because two women felt threatened by a wild animal at about 2000 meters above sea level on Mirnock in the Unter-Drau valley in Carinthia on Saturday night, they had to be rescued by a helicopter crew.
According to their own statements, the two women may have been threatened by a wolf. Originally, the hikers had planned to spend the night on the mountain on Sunday. Around 10 p.m., they apparently got the impression that they were being watched by the animal for a long time and called the emergency services. They reported feeling threatened.
Possible administrative fine
The police helicopter eventually brought the two to safety. Now it is being checked whether the hikers – one comes from Carinthia, the other from Germany – had actually already set up a tent to spend the night in the open air, because that can be punished with an administrative fine.
They probably don’t have to pay for the flight, because it cannot be ruled out that the women were in real danger. Whether it really was a wolf will probably no longer be known.
