Sudden heavy rainfall with precipitation of 60 liters per square meter per hour led to numerous firefighting operations in southern Burgenland late Saturday afternoon.
The Floriani disciples in Tauka in the Jennersdorf district were particularly challenged. Around 4 p.m., so much rain fell within minutes that entire streets were flooded. Numerous houses and basements had to be pumped out.
Equally dramatic was the situation in Rauchwart Bergen in the Güssing district, where the water masses even penetrated the door of some houses. The Rauchwart and Stegersbach fire brigades were in action.
