A 33-year-old sex offender from Afghanistan has been sentenced again by the regional court in Feldkirch (Vorarlberg). During the trial, the man pretended to be harmless.
Twelve months in prison and sent to a forensic therapeutic center. That was the verdict against the Afghans, some of whom had already been convicted. The man was charged with attempted assault. According to the public prosecutor, the 33-year-old was masturbating with an 18-year-old woman during a train ride in September last year. In early January, he assaulted two women aged 14 and 18 at a bus stop in Feldkirch. When they fled, he followed, seizing the elder and biting her in the chest. When asked about the charges by Judge Silke Sandholzer, the sex offender pleaded not guilty.

About the incident on the train, he says: “I don’t know, maybe she (the victim) misunderstood something. I just scratched my front. You don’t have to report it right away.” He justifies the Feldkirch incident as follows: “I only hugged her because I wanted to kiss her. But it didn’t work. Maybe she thought I was ugly. But I didn’t bite her.” However, in the trial, the 18-year-old victim described the act quite impressively. Forensic psychiatrist Reinhard Haller concludes that the man was sane and classifies him as dangerous.
