Children are also at risk – boys dismantled mopeds after fleeing the police

Date:

Three young people in Schwaz, Tyrol, were in a wild chase with the police on Sunday: after the moped riders were targeted by a patrol because of their “driving skills”, they fled and raced, among other things, over a forest path on which several pedestrians – including small children – were on their way. Two suspects were eventually found in a garage.

A patrol was carrying out traffic checks on Schwaz Bergwerkstraße on Sunday afternoon, when suddenly three young moped riders roared past and drove with “wheelies” (front wheel in the air, beware) towards the B171 Tiroler Straße.

The officers immediately gave chase, but the traffic hooligans did not even think about stopping. “The fugitives Ignored stop signs several times, fled at too high a speed and ignored all traffic signs on the B 171 to the cemetery in Schwaz and then on a forest road towards Pflanzengarten,” the detectives say.

Pedestrians, including children, at risk
Several pedestrians, including small children, were walking in this area at the time. The patrol had to stop the pursuit because of this. A search was then started with the support of other emergency services.

Suspects wanted to cover up escape
During this operation, the whereabouts of two of the three suspects could eventually be determined. The duo – two local residents aged 15 and 16 – were caught in a garage. “The young people were disassembling their moped into separate parts to cover up the crimes they had committed earlier,” the detectives continue.

According to the police, the two boys confessed. Due to serious defects in the mopeds, the number plates and registration certificates have been removed. Appropriate advertisements will follow. The third boy could not be found so far.
