At first only a dumpster burned down – a standard operation for the fire department. But then there were two other locations in Upper Austria, or rather crime scenes. On the night of Tuesday, a fire devil chased the helpers around Wels. Because not only waste containers burn down, the damage is very high.
If it had only been the waste container at the waste collection point of an apartment complex on Albert-Schweitzer-Strasse in the Vogelweide district of Wels, it could have been negligence – such as a discarded cigarette or badly extinguished ashes in the residual waste. The fire was also quickly extinguished.
But then around the corner in Otto-Loewi-Straße: the next garbage container on fire. Here, police officers were the first to fight and contain the flames with fire extinguishers. Two fires almost in one place – that was no longer a coincidence.

And then – again close by: two vehicles on fire. A car and a pickup. Presumably one had been lit and the flames had spread to the second. The vehicles were badly damaged, although firefighters were quickly on the scene. Now the police are investigating arson and the detectives hope that there are also witnesses to the incident that can lead them to the fire devil’s trail.
