Since the beginning of the year, femicide cases have been on the rise in Austria. This year there have already been 16 murders of women in Austria. Klaudia Frieben, president of the Austrian women’s group, emphasizes that a lack of political will and a lack of self-acceptance mean that every third woman in Austria is now a victim of violence. But where does Austria stand compared to other countries?
At a press conference, the federal government presented a new study on the murder of women. Also present were the presidents of the umbrella organization of Austrian centers for protection against violence, Marina Sorgo and Viktoria Eberhardt and Brigitte Temel from the Institute for Conflict Research, who conducted the research.
