The Bavarian police had to leave not far from the Austrian border on Friday afternoon for an unusual operation. A motorcyclist’s backpack had opened on the A7 motorway while driving between Kempten and Memmingen. In addition to clothing, an envelope with cash fell on the highway.

“The police, your friend and helper.” This was the experience of a motorcyclist on Friday afternoon who lost an envelope containing almost 5,000 euros on the German A7 motorway in the Unterallgäu. The 44-year-old was previously heading north on the A7 when he noticed near Memmingen around 2:30 p.m. that his backpack had opened somewhere between Kempten and Memmingen.

Police assist in search
In addition to some items of clothing, the envelope with the money was also missing. The man made the emergency call and then drove the route again. Two patrols from the traffic police inspectorate in Kempten and the highway police in Memmingen assisted in the search.

Empty envelope and happy ending
After a T-shirt was found at Wolfertschwandern, the search area could be narrowed. Officials from the Memmingen Autobahn Police eventually found the empty envelope and receipt in the area of ​​the median, the banknotes had been scattered by the wind. After almost two hours of searching, you have been able to return almost all the lost money to the overjoyed owner.
