A 56-year-old truck driver from Falces died this afternoon in Murillo el Cuende (La Ribera), the provincial police reported.
The fatal accident took place on the N-121. The truck went off the road and flipped over.
The accident occurred when, for unknown reasons, the truck, traveling south with a load of feed, left the road, crossed the roadway and overturned on the left side, stopping in the ditch of the opposite roadway (northbound).
There was nothing the emergency services could do to save the life of the truck driver, who was trapped in the cabin of the vehicle and died before being released, as reported by the provincial government.
As a result of the accident, the northbound national road was closed at kilometer 49. Traffic patrols from the Provincial Police made a diversion possible at 2.20 pm. The road was cleared at 3:45 p.m.
