In Wulkaprodersdorf, several bales of straw, a garden fence, a rafter, a field and a telephone box converted into a book box were on fire – according to researchers, spontaneous combustion has been ruled out.
A large part of the fire broke out Wednesday night. A bale of straw was on fire on a goods road and two others were on fire on a trailer just 200 yards away. While the fire was still being extinguished, the fire brigade was called for the next action. At the edge of the village, a wooden garden gate caught fire, but the owner managed to extinguish it himself.
Shortly afterwards, 200 meters away, the roof truss of an old carpentry workshop was on fire again. The building completely burned down, preventing the spread to others.
Several fires had already broken out last Friday. At that time, straw bales were on fire on the same goods road, along with a mowed field and a book cell in the village. The fire was extinguished by passers-by, police said.
The Wulkaprodersdorf Police Inspectorate is requesting information from the public on 059133-1100.
