Anyone who has seen the “Harry Potter” movies knows the images of the “Hogwarts Express” and its scenic route through Scotland. At the moment, however, no one can enjoy the view, because rides with an old train on this route have been temporarily suspended, operator West Coast Railways announced on Friday. This is for security reasons.
Known as ‘The Jacobite’, the train normally runs twice a day on the route that runs from the town of Fort William to Mallaig on the west coast. The train also travels over the Glenfinnan Viaduct – a landscape also known from the “Harry Potter” films.
According to the British news agency PA, trips on the “Jacobite” train were already suspended on July 15 after a supervisory authority discovered problems during an inspection that now need to be resolved. The company wrote that passengers who had already booked tickets were informed by email or, if possible, by text message. Tickets for the canceled trips must be refunded.
