The four suspected thieves from Romania probably did not expect that: when they stole money from a 31-year-old in Ansfelden (Upper Austria) and fled in their car, the thief drove after the men in his own car and the police repeatedly gave the current location of the fugitives by telephone.
The turbulent scenes started out harmlessly. Four Romanians – aged 26, 30, 49 and 60 – advertised various branded goods at reasonable prices in Ansfelden on Monday evening. The 31-year-old from Neuhofen an der Krems, who later followed the men, was interested in the headphones for sale. Everything then went smoothly: the man from Neuhofen took money out of his pocket to pay for the goods.
The 49-year-old Romanian then took the bills from his hand and claimed that he would soon receive change. Instead, however, he fled with his three accomplices by car in the direction of Traun.
Location given by mobile phone
The robber didn’t hesitate long, got into his car and gave chase. He repeatedly gave the police the current location by telephone. The officers were able to stop the getaway car moments later.
More goods in the trunk
During the check, the police found other branded items in the trunk – which had been seized on suspicion of theft. The Romanians are shown.
