According to Russian information, Kiev attacked the Moscow-annexed Black Sea peninsula of Crimea with 20 drones on Saturday evening.
“The thwarted terrorist attack claimed no casualties and caused no damage,” the defense ministry said, according to a report by Russia’s state news agency TASS on Saturday morning.An adviser to the Russian-installed governor of Crimea annexed in 2014 said air defense systems in different parts of the peninsula were involved in repelling airstrikes. Crimean traffic authorities said on Telegram that traffic on the Crimean Bridge was interrupted for about two hours from 1:30 a.m. (local time).
The bridge is not only a prestige project for Russian President Vladimir Putin, who personally opened it in 2018. It is also extremely important for supplying Russian troops in southern Ukraine, as it connects Crimea to Russia’s Krasnodar Oblast and thus to mainland Russia.
