The main fire station in Villach rushed twice on Sunday to help animals in need. Two kittens and a hedgehog were rescued.
Around 10:45 a.m., a concerned reporter reported to the fire brigade that two small cats were trapped in a pit in the central cemetery. The standby unit immediately rushed to help the little four-legged friends: “With the help of a ladder and a transport box, the two kittens were released from their predicament,” reports operations manager Daniel Hudelist of the main fire station in Villach. The small animals were handed over to animal shelter Villach.
Hedgehog stuck in hole
A short time later, a stray hedgehog needed help in the center of Villach. “In a guest garden in the center of Villach, a hedgehog stumbled into a hole that was actually intended for an umbrella stand. This was only accidentally noticed by attentive employees,” says a firefighter. Because she could not save the animal, she alerted the fire brigade With a pair of pliers, the hedgehog was carefully rescued from the burrow and released into the wild.
“On this busy Sunday, several fire alarms, a smoke detector in the house, a boat call and safety work after a traffic accident also had to be processed,” says Helmut Hausmann of the main fire station.
