A resident of Vienna (34) killed his girlfriend in Mürzzuschlag in Styria. She wanted to leave him because she had fallen in love with the mother of an Afghan refugee family…
The motives for the brutal murder of a 34-year-old Styrian woman, who was tried in Leoben on Monday, are not new: offended pride, anger, humiliation and a new love. But the backgrounds that would eventually have led to this bloody deed are entirely new.
“Sandra was my great love”
The Viennese got to know each other in 2015 on Facebook. “Sandra was my great love,” says the suspect. When she no longer wanted to live in Vienna, he moved with her via the Semmering to Mürzzuschlag. Unable to work due to a hernia, the 34-year-old earned a living as a factory worker for his Sandra and her daughter.
The wedding soon followed. But when he personally went bankrupt because they were living beyond their means (“when she was doing well, we took vacations and travel”), the divorce followed. “Sandra wanted that because otherwise she wouldn’t get the funding.” The couple continued to live together.
Then, in the winter of 2022, the 34-year-old brought home a family of four refugees from Afghanistan. “She explained to me that otherwise they would be deported.” From that moment on, the Viennese slept with the Afghan man on the couch and his wife with his wife in the double bed because the Afghan was “afraid of dogs and cats”.
woman fell in love
Then his Sandra confessed to him that she had fallen in love with the woman and wanted to get away from the Afghan family. “I don’t want to know anything more about you!” she would have said. “My life is broken into a thousand pieces,” he cries. He took a steak knife and stabbed her in the head 40 times alone…
The defense pleaded for manslaughter. It is still awaiting a jury verdict.
