Attack in Leibnitz – Jehovah’s Witnesses: 22,000 members in Austria

State security is investigating the discovery of two explosives on cars in Leibnitz, Styria. The owners of the vehicles attended a prayer meeting organized by Jehovah’s Witnesses. Was the attack directed at the “witnesses”? The “crown” reveals the most important things about the religious community, which has only been recognized in Austria since 2009.

The Jehovah’s Witnesses have been a state-recognized church in Austria since May 2009. Jehovah’s Witnesses currently have 22,052 active members in Austria, of which 4,375 are most strongly represented in Upper Austria, followed by Vienna with 4,243. There are a total of 160 so-called Kingdom Halls in this country. With 200,000 members, the German community is one of the largest in Europe. There are more than 8.7 million followers worldwide who have sworn to unquestioning obedience.
