Shock for a family of three from Germany in Biberwier in the Tyrolean district of Reutte on Saturday: while driving over the Fernpass, their minibus suddenly caught fire. The driver (45) was just able to get himself, his wife and the two-year-old child to safety.
The incident happened around 2 p.m. The 45-year-old drove the minivan on the B179 from Nassereith towards Reutte. “Shortly after the Fernpasshöhe in the municipality of Biberwier, the driver noticed that the vehicle began to smoke heavily,” the researchers say.
The family escaped in shock
The German immediately stopped and got off the bus with his wife and two-year-old child. “Immediately after exiting the vehicle it caught fire.”
The Floriani students of the volunteer fire brigade of Biberwier and Lermoos managed to extinguish the flames. The family escaped unhurt.
