Tragic operations – mountain rescue can only kill two hikers

Date:

The mountain rescue team from Mühlbach am Hochkönig had to carry out two tragic missions this weekend. In both cases, she could only save more bodies.

The first incident happened Saturday morning at five o’clock. During their ascent to the Mitterfeldalm, hikers from the Hochkönig discovered a lifeless man. Attempts to resuscitate the mountain rescuers and the emergency doctor were unsuccessful. “Unfortunately, the 51-year-old from St. Martin am Tennengebirge has passed away,” reports Wolfgang Hagenmüller, head of the mountain rescue center Mühlbach. “He was traveling alone.” The man is believed to have died of a heart attack. The mountain rescue helped recover the body.

The second incident happened Saturday afternoon. The seriously ill 83-year-old from Salzburg, who had been missing since Monday, was found dead by a dog handler after he was searched for in an extensive search. The police were looking for him again.

The body was found in the “Schimmelgraben” at a passable dead end in the direction of the Dientnersattel at the Trockenbach. The exact cause of death has yet to be determined, but it is suspected that the man from Salzburg got lost in the area.
