A motorist stopped in the hard shoulder on the A9 Pyhrn Autobahn to call an acquaintance. After driving away, another vehicle collided head-on with the rear of the car. Four people were injured in the serious rear-end collision at the end of Monday evening, including a two-year-old toddler and a pregnant woman.
An earwitness at the opposite service point along the highway spoke of a “Grande Buuum”, a huge bang, which woke him up as the car crashed into the car. The accident happened on the Pyhrn Autobahn in the municipality of Schlierbach, near the parking lot Maisdorf Ost, in the direction of Wels.
Crash after driving off
A 27-year-old Serb stopped at the hard shoulder to inquire about the whereabouts of an acquaintance who was also driving on the A9. After the call, he moved back into the right lane. A 22-year-old from Kirchdorf an der Krems collided with his car from behind against the 27-year-old’s car.
Mother and son seriously injured
After the serious accident, both vehicles came to a stop in the right lane and hard shoulder. His pregnant wife (26) and her two-year-old son were in the Serb’s car, the two were seriously injured. The two drivers suffered unknown injuries.
The accident blocked the A9 between Inzersdorf and Ried im Traunkreis for about two hours.
