“We want this animal hater to be stopped.” – Alexander Sch. (49) from the Wels district in Schafwiesen is angry. His cat “Balou” was shot by a stranger on Monday evening. The badly injured cat required surgery and barely survived.
“‘Balou’ came home Monday evening and immediately lay down. We haven’t noticed anything yet. But Tuesday morning he barely moved and was visibly ill. We took him to the veterinary clinic in Wels. X-rays showed that he had hail in his stomach. One was He got stuck just an inch from his heart. One of his hind legs was completely shot,” says cat owner Alexander Sch.: “The vet put ‘Balou’ into artificial deep sleep and later operated on.”
2529 euros for surgery
The health of the badly damaged velvet leg was worth a lot to the “Herrl”. Alexander Sch. had to pay 2529 euros for veterinary care and the complex surgery on his four-legged friend. Putting him to sleep would not have been an alternative, however: “I thought it was important that the barrel was operated on so that ‘Balou’ was not affected.”
Witnesses please come forward!
The Welser is now puzzling over who shoots pets with the shotgun in sheep pastures. Alexander Sch. had heard shots nearby two days earlier: “We don’t know if it was an animal hater, a farmer or a hunter.”
