They’re back: The two teenagers who allegedly ran over and seriously injured a sushi landlady in Linz arrived in Austria this week. Authorities from three countries collaborated on their extradition. Now the duo is being questioned by the Austrian magistrate.
Grazer, 16, and her companion (17) were arrested in Croatia after their flight and had to stay there for 19 days. On Wednesday, the Croatian authorities first transferred the duo to the border with Slovenia, from where Slovenian emergency services took the young people to the Spielfeld border crossing. The Zechpreller duo arrived there early Wednesday afternoon.
European arrest warrant
“The Austrian authorities have arrested her on the basis of the European arrest warrant,” explains Hansjörg Bacher, spokesperson for the Graz public prosecutor’s office. At 5:15 p.m. – almost exactly three weeks after the breakout from the sushi restaurant – the teens arrived at the Graz-Jakomini prison.
Judge decides on arrest
Now the responsible magistrate agrees and decides on Friday evening whether the duo should remain in our custody. “If questions remain unanswered, a police questioning will follow,” says Bacher.
The 16-year-old and her companion have already testified in Croatia. “We have already received the logs and they have already been translated.” An attempted murder is being investigated.
