“Euro 8 for strudel: prices in huts are at their peak”, was the headline in “Krone” a few days ago. Specifically, the hungry guests of the Falkenhütte in Karwendel have to pay so much for this pastry – even 17.90 euros for penne. Landlord Bert Rackwitz is now counterattacking and even sees approval for such exceptionally high prices – especially from visitors from the Munich area.
When “Krone” researched the prices in the huts in Tyrol, the menu of the Falkenhütte (1848 m) stood out unpleasantly. Eight euros for a naked apple strudel, 17.90 euros for penne – you may not feel hungry for a while. In comparison: on the Kaunergrathütte (2817 m) in the Pitztal, which can only be supplied by helicopter at an extremely high cost, an apple strudel costs only 5.50 euros.
