The climate gluers are increasingly moving away from the big cities and are now looking for ‘glue points’ outside them. This time the activists were active in Gmunden in Upper Austria. At second glance it becomes clear why.
Five demonstrators held the zebra crossing on the boulevard. Ten others held “Last Generation” banners. Access to the district headquarters was also blocked. “We once again call on the government to take action. “For example, better public transport is needed, especially in rural areas, to enable climate-friendly living,” the activists demanded.
Traffic jams minimal thanks to diversions
Representatives of the district administration came to the demonstration, declared it over and police officers – who had already been trained with adhesive remover – carried out their duties. There were no incidents. Thanks to quick diversions, the traffic jam was minimal, according to the police. Advertisements followed as usual.
At second glance, it makes sense why the activists clung to the street on Saturday, given the location. On the so-called sunny Saturday, the last summer holiday of this year, there was of course a lot to do in Gmunden: excursion traffic. Therefore, the destination was more worthwhile than a road with little traffic in Linz.
