After the renovation work started on Tuesday, there is now the first major traffic jam! Since Thursday morning, motorists on the A10 towards Salzburg have had to take into account a time loss of more than two hours.
Only on Tuesday did long-term renovation work on the Ofenauer and Hiefler tunnels and on the Werden tunnel chain begin. A rear-end collision this morning, Thursday, caused the Helbersberg tunnel to be closed and tow trucks had to be called to remove the vehicles involved. The lockdown was lifted at 9:30 am. Half an hour of lost time had to be taken into account.
In the early afternoon, with increasing traffic and new problems, the traffic jam may have reached its peak. From Eben im Pongau to Golling im Tennengau, drivers had to take into account a delay of more than two hours. On the route from Eben to Pfarrwerfen alone it was 43 minutes longer than normal, highway manager Asfinag said on the tunnel renovation website.
