The renovation of the tunnel chain between Werfen and Golling on the Tauern Autobahn A10, which started at the beginning of this week, once again caused long traffic jams in both directions on Sunday. There is now harsh criticism from politicians about ASFINAG’s construction site management.
“Today it is even worse than yesterday,” said Harald Lasser of ÖAMTC Sunday. In a northerly direction, the traffic jam extends from Werden to Altenmarkt, with a delay of about two and a half hours.
‘It can’t go on like this’
Even as we go south, progress is slow. There were about five kilometers of traffic jams and an additional travel time of about an hour. “You have to think about something. “It can’t continue like this,” Lasser said.
Salzburg’s LH deputy, responsible for transport. Meanwhile, Stefan Schnöll (ÖVP) called on ASFINAG to take improvement measures. The long traffic jams are unacceptable and the construction site management is not working, Schnöll said in a press release. He called for a transport summit with the mayors of the affected communities and ASFINAG. This should suggest new traffic control measures, Schnöll said.
“This is the largest parking lot in Austria”
SPÖ transport spokeswoman Sabine Klausner also criticized the traffic jam caused by the construction site and the inaction of the state government: “The A10 is the largest parking lot in Austria and a catastrophe for the local population.”
