175,000 visitors – Aufsteirern broke all festival records

Date:

After the sensational success on Saturday, the Super Sunday of Popular Culture was celebrated throughout the city center of Graz. On both days combined, approximately 175,000 visitors flocked to the Styrian capital – that’s a new record!

With around 55,000 festival visitors from far and wide, Aufsteirern exceeded even the most optimistic expectations on Saturday. And on Sunday, at the traditional beer tap, LH Christopher Drexler was amazed: “I have never seen such a full main square at the opening.”

All hell broke loose at 16 locations
Minute by minute, more and more people in dirndls and lederhosen headed towards the city center. The 16 locations of the folk culture festival (more than ever before) became increasingly lively, with thousands of actors on the stages, such as folk musicians, dancers, singers, Schnalzer, Schuhplattler, craftsmen, brass players & Co. who presented the living Styrian traditions. The crowds around the many different stands and exhibitors also became increasingly colorful.

The weather was perfect – with blue skies, pure sunshine and temperatures up to 27 degrees – and so on Sunday more than 120,000 people celebrated at the most beautiful and largest folk culture festival in the country – more than ever before!

Happy faces as far as the eye can see
Even though the crowds were sometimes quite large and the waiting times at the food stalls were longer: you saw so many happy faces, there was so much laughing, singing, clapping and dancing. There was a wonderful festive atmosphere everywhere. The Aufsteirern 2023 was once again a celebration of the popular culture that only Styria can celebrate.

At the “Krone” we share the expectations of the Aufsteirern 2024 with the actors and guests!
