The Tyrolean mountain rescuers and Floriani youth having to rescue a paraglider from a tree happens almost every day in the summer. The emergency services are rarely or never called because of a balloon. However, that did happen on Wednesday.
The so-called “Balloon Week” is currently taking place in Brixental. Four Germans from neighboring Bavaria also participated on Wednesday. The quartet enjoyed the balloon flight over the Tyrolean mountains in fantastic weather. An accident occurred during landing.
Trapped in the power line
When landing in the riparian forest in the municipality of Ellmau, the Germans and their balloon became entangled in an electricity cable that ran along the field. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. The Florianijüngers of the Ellmau volunteer fire brigade rescued the balloon.
