ÖVP State Councilor Ludwig Schleritzko has been responsible for – as he himself says – the largest healthcare group in Central Europe and its 27 hospitals for six months. Now he is making a critical assessment. When it comes to digitalization, you are still far from where you belong. Why this should help doctors soon, how to relieve the burden on nursing staff, what he says about the accusations of flatulence by the Audit Office and the state governor and why a third LGA board will still be provided.
“Kron”: Ludwig Schleritzko, you have been responsible for the State Health Service (LGA) since March. What has happened since then?
Ludwig Schleritzko: Before the summer, I visited all 27 clinic locations and spoke with collegial management (medical director, commercial director, and nursing director) and workforce representatives. I thought it was very important that the staff was present. I talked to them about strengths, weaknesses, potential and risks for the future. Building on these conversations, I worked with representatives from the LGA to develop a five-point plan. This aims to strengthen certain areas and disciplines within the LGA.
