After a stabbing at the Dornbirn train station in Vorarlberg, all suspects were found guilty by the lay court in Feldkirch. The main perpetrator (15) must spend five years behind bars.
After the brutal knife attack on an Iraqi man in April, all three teenagers were found guilty on Monday. The main defendant, a 15-year-old Russian with a criminal record, was sentenced to five years in prison for attempted murder.
5000 euros compensation
He must also pay compensation of 5,000 euros. The Senate found it proven that he had stabbed a 32-year-old Iraqi eight times in the upper body with a pocket knife, causing life-threatening injuries. The other two young people, a 15-year-old Syrian and a now 16-year-old Romanian, were found guilty of grievous bodily harm and received partial prison sentences.
Holes in the knife stabber’s memory
When the chairman asked him about the motive for the crime, the perpetrator showed gaps in his memory: “I had already smoked several joints early in the morning and I don’t know why I stabbed.” It wasn’t until he saw the videos that his memory came back. He never thought he was capable of such an act. Only so much. He and his two friends told the Kurds at the train station to “fuck off.” When the Iraqis refused, the situation escalated.
Five years in prison for the main perpetrator
Out of fear of his tormentors, the three defendants are led out of the courtroom for the duration of the interrogation. Visibly upset, the victim said, “They’re not people. The other two kicked me. After the knife attack, I ran to the other side of the street, lay down on the ground and waited to die.”
He then takes off his T-shirt to show the court the numerous scars. Prosecutor Philipp Höfle once again points out the cowardly act and base motives of the defendants. Also note that two of the perpetrators already have a relevant criminal record and that there is already a weapons ban against the stabbing.
The main perpetrator becomes correspondingly pale when he is sentenced by the municipality to five years in prison. As he stares speechless into space, his mother has a fit of hysteria and leaves the courtroom with a slam of the doors.
