Was it a joke? In any case, the consequences were serious: unknown perpetrators removed a construction site barrier in Gleisdorf, eastern Styria, at night. A driver noticed this too late and ended up with the car in a ditch.
According to the foreman responsible, the construction site was cordoned off around 5:30 PM on Wednesday to secure a freshly poured concrete foundation. However, on Thursday evening, unknown perpetrators removed the security.
Around 6 a.m., a 90-year-old driver was driving on Schillerstrasse. According to the police, he noticed the lower concrete base too late and drove his car into it. As a photo provided by the fire department shows, there was significant damage to the car. Fortunately, the driver was unharmed.
Looking for witnesses
Now the police are looking for witnesses: who can provide information about the perpetrators who removed the barrier that night? Contact the Gleisdorf police station on 059133/6264.
