A spectacular accident occurred on Thursday morning in the Gerlossrasse in the Tyrolean Zillertal. A fully loaded concrete mixer tipped over in a bend. The driver was seriously injured and the loaded concrete flowed over the mountain road. The clean-up work was extremely difficult.
The accident happened around 10:30 am. For reasons that are still unclear, the heavy vehicle overturned in the sharp bend called “Bichlreibe” in the municipality of Hainzenberg.
The truck driver (37) was injured in the spine and hip. He had to be flown to the clinic in Innsbruck.
Recovery of the heavy vehicle difficult
When the fully loaded mixer truck came to a stop on the road, the concrete mixture flowed onto the road. The emergency services had their hands full removing the mixture from the road.
Recovery of the heavy vehicle was also very difficult. Gerlossrasse had to be partially completely closed for hours. The recovery of the mixer wagon was only completed in the late afternoon.
