Horrible scenes took place on Saturday morning in Scheffau am Wilden Kaiser (Kufstein district). A German collapsed in front of his companions while walking to the Kaiser Niederalm. Unfortunately, all attempts to revive the man failed.
The 56-year-old was part of a six-member hiking group from Bavaria that hiked in the Kaiser Mountains. On Saturday morning they left the Bocking district of Söller for the Kaiser Niederalm in Scheffau.
Collapsed in front of his companion
Dramatic scenes followed shortly before noon and shortly before the finish. The hiker suddenly collapsed motionless on the path. His companions alerted the emergency services. Seven members of the Scheffau-Söllandl mountain rescue team and the air rescue team tried to resuscitate the 56-year-old for 45 minutes. Unfortunately without success.
The emergency doctor could only determine that the man was dead. The deceased was taken to the valley by the mountain rescue team. The shocked companions were taken care of by the Red Cross crisis intervention team. Police confirmed the incident and said it was not an alpine accident but a medical emergency.
