Hair-raising maneuvers – luxury rally: Swiss couple burned in Ferrari

Date:

A Swiss couple died in an accident involving luxury cars in Sardinia. The victims burned to death in a rented Ferrari they had rented for the luxury car rally ‘Sardinia Supercar Experience’. An Indian billionaire is suspected of causing the death of the Swiss with a reckless maneuver in a Lamborghini.

The accident took place on Monday morning in San Giovanni Suergiu. The Ferrari had tried to overtake and the fatal crash eventually took place on the straight stretch of road: the luxury car in which the Swiss couple was riding caught fire and a camper of tourists from South Tyrol fell on its side, with its occupants approaching without serious injury.

Lamborghini shot down an overtaking Ferrari
A video of the accident shows the red Ferrari trying to overtake two other luxury cars and the caravan. The line between the two lanes is uninterrupted; overtaking is prohibited there. When the red car is level with a blue Lamborghini, it also starts to overtake, swerve and throw the Ferrari off the road. The car overturns and bursts into flames, and the blue Lamborghini ends up in the ditch.

The driver of the blue Lamborghini is Indian tycoon Vikas Ranvir Oberoi (54), considered one of India’s richest people, and his wife, Bollywood model and actress Gayatri Joshi, was in the passenger seat. The couple escaped more or less unscathed – police reported that the two were not seriously injured.

The tragedy could now have serious consequences for the Indian billionaire: he is said to have caused the fatal accident with the risky maneuver. He is now under investigation for ‘double murder in traffic’. He faces a long prison sentence.
