Man jumped out of building – man threatened to blow up his ex-girlfriend’s apartment

In a video message to his mother, a 40-year-old in Vienna-Favoriten reportedly threatened to blow up his ex-partner’s apartment on Wednesday afternoon. The police were immediately alerted. The building had to be searched with explosives sniffer dogs.

It was around 4pm when the major operation took place in Leebgasse. Shortly before, the suspect threatened his mother to blow up his ex-girlfriend’s apartment with a bomb. Due to this warning, the entire area around the apartment had to be cordoned off.

Suspect jumped from the first floor
During the cordon, officers saw a man jump from the first floor of a residential building and stopped him. It soon became clear that this was the suspect. The man qualified his statements and said that he had not taken them seriously. According to the police, no explosives were found in the home.

The 40-year-old was arrested by emergency services and taken to prison. He is not allowed to approach his ex-partner or her apartment. He was also banned from carrying weapons.
