Despite fundraising – grave destroyed: church does not want to pay family anything

Date:

After storms in the Carinthian communities of Eberndorf and St. Kanzian on Lake Klopeiner See in the summer, the St. Marxen cemetery is still destroyed. Families whose graves have been destroyed now have to renovate the resting places themselves and do not understand why the diocese does not want to help – even though donations are diligently collected.

In July a hurricane storm destroyed the tower of the small side church in St. Marxen near Kühnsdorf. “During the roar of the storm, we only heard the sound of the wind and did not even notice that the church tower had been demolished,” neighbors said at the time. “You could immediately see eddies, like a tornado,” said another. The result: The church tower ended up on several graves in the cemetery around the church. Many grave owners such as Mrs. O. from Kühnsdorf are shocked.
