The railway has a system: Russia is going to build a new railway line in Ukraine

Date:

According to the British, Russia is highly dependent on the railways to supply its troops in the war of aggression against Ukraine. According to British intelligence, Moscow is currently building a new route to Mariupol.

“Russia will almost certainly continue to maintain and improve its rail links in Ukraine and build a new railway line to Mariupol, which will reduce transport times for supplies to the Zaporizhia front,” the British Ministry of Defense said on Sunday.

Russia uses civilian contractors and equipment for this purpose. This will likely make targeting more difficult for the Ukrainians and also preserve Russian capabilities elsewhere.

The rail system
“Russia uses its rail networks to transport ammunition, armaments, fuel and personnel to Ukraine,” it said in London. “The railway network in occupied Ukraine remains largely functional, but is vulnerable to sporadic disruptions from Ukrainian artillery, rockets and sabotage.”

The new route is within the range of Ukrainian attack systems. However, targeted and sustained attacks by air and/or ground forces are necessary to destroy rail transport.

The British Ministry of Defense publishes daily information about the progress of the war since the start of the war against Ukraine in February 2022. Moscow accuses London of disinformation.
