Four women standing on the side of the road were killed. Two other people were taken to a hospital.
The driver reportedly lost control and crashed twice into parked cars. Four women were fatally injured, two others were injured to an unspecified degree. An alcohol and drug test was negative.
Driver arrested
Authorities are investigating whether two drivers are involved in an illegal race. The driver was arrested on the spot. Four vehicles are believed to have been involved in the collisions.
“That’s hard. It’s a big bloodbath, just a metal bloodbath,” LA County Fire Chief Sheila Kelliher Berkoh told abc7chicago. “Anytime you arrive at the scene of an accident and find four bodies, it’s hard to to see.”
Bodies and badly damaged vehicles could be seen at the scene of the accident. Accidents have happened several times on the highway. This is a popular place for street racing. The problem has worsened in recent years.
